Moving Day Checklist
Follow these steps for a smooth, damage-free move
Book equipment 2 weeks early
Moving weekends fill up fast — especially end of month. Reserve your trailer, van, and trolleys well ahead of time.
Measure doorways and furniture
Know the dimensions of your largest items and every doorway, stairwell, and hallway on both ends of the move.
Pack strategically
Heavy items in small boxes, light items in big boxes. Label every box with its destination room.
Load heaviest items first
Fridge, washing machine, and dressers go in the trailer first, against the back wall. Stack lighter boxes on top.
Protect floors with blankets
Lay moving blankets along hallways and near door frames. One scratch on hardwood can cost your full bond.
Tie down everything securely
Use ratchet straps to anchor heavy items to tie-down points. Nothing should shift when you brake hard.
What Most People Forget
These items save hours of stress on moving day — and most people only remember them halfway through
Mattress Bag
A $5 bag prevents stains, tears, and moisture damage during transport. Your mattress touches floors, walls, and trailer beds.
Wardrobe Boxes
Tall boxes that let you hang clothes directly from your closet. Saves hours of folding and ironing at the other end.
Appliance Dolly
Regular dollies can't handle a 90kg fridge. An appliance dolly has straps and a stair-climbing edge to prevent disasters.
Plastic Wrap for Drawers
Wrap dresser drawers shut instead of emptying them. Contents stay in place, and you skip packing an extra 4 boxes.
A Good Hand Truck
You'll make 30+ trips carrying boxes. A hand truck lets you stack 3-4 boxes per trip and saves your back.
